Gift Basket for the Expectant Mommy:
This was my favorite gift from my Baby Shower! My girlfriend bought me a gift set that included soap, body wash, a sponge, and a book. The entire unit got me an infant seat and if it was not for this, I do not know how I would have taken a shower! With this gift I could shower and watch my baby at the same time!
Infant Seat:
This is one of those items I think a lot of parents on a budget try to do without and therefore, it makes a really nice gift. Make for sure you keep up to date on the recent recalls and shop around as they come in a broad range of prices depending on what you want the infant to be able to do while they are in the seat.

We know how it works! You go shopping for the baby after the baby shower! This is one of those items you might as well go ahead and purchase as a gift. They are not expensive and an absolute necessity!

Also, I think this would be a good place to advise you to purchase something for any older siblings as well. This will save the new mommy a trip to the store on the way home. A lady I worked with bought my daughter a few small toys, some crayons, and a coloring book, but it was truly something I will always remember because there was no way I was going to go home with a truck load of gifts for the new baby and none for my oldest daughter!
Nursing Bras/Shirts
If the expectant mother is breastfeeding these will really come in handy and she will love you for it. You can make a basket and add Lanolin, Nursing Bra Pads, Nursing Wrap, and even some storage bottles.
After the Shower Kit
Save the expectant mother a few trips and give her Infant Announcements and Thank You Cards as a gift! You can place them in a gift bag or simply wrap a ribbon around them.
